Zk'in Organic Brightening & Hydrating Masque

My favourite part of a relaxing night in is to get into my pyjamas, watch a romcom and enjoy a great face mask. I've started 2015 with a fantastic organic mask from 'zk'in' and it's just too good to keep to myself! Read on to know my thoughts and learn a bit more about a lovely new product.

Zk'in is an Australian-born brand that is committed to producing 'honest beauty' products - - which basically means making skincare without the nasty chemicals, but still producing clinically proven results. Isn't this what we all want?
In terms of being environmentally and animal friendly 'zk'in organics' comes away with flying colours. This mask is made with certified organic ingredients which are paraben and SLS free. This just gives you extra reassurance that nothing nasty is going on to your skin. If that's not enough, all of their products have been dermatologically tested and are irritant-free. As someone with sensitive skin, I can completely vouch for this! Previously, I've reacted badly to cucumber face masks that I've bought in the drug store - that's how bad I am, but I have had no trouble with this mask whatsoever. Even after I've exfoliated, when my skin is a bit tender, this mask has been soothing and nourishing.
'Zk'in organics' is also a cruelty-free brand, which I know a lot of you will appreciate, and their entire range is also suitable for vegans!

So now on to the product itself!

In terms of packaging, zk'in have got it spot on. Sticking with the 'nature theme' with the green leaf design, but mixing it up a little with the purple underneath. Just from the packaging you really get the impression that it's a good quality product.

The 'Brightening & Hydrating Masque' is said to have the additional results of enhancing your complexion and smoothing your skin and is suitable for all skin types.

The ingredients are 93.63% organic and include aloe vera, cocoa seed power, kaolin (white clay) and brown seeweed extract. Fucoidan, which comes from the brown seeweed, impedes skin breakdown but preserves natural collagen. This helps to smooth out wrinkles, giving an anti-aging quality to the mask, and improves elasticity to give your skin a youthful feel. The brightening component comes from the antioxidants that are found in cocoa - these help improve your circulation to give light to your face. As you can imagine, the hydration comes from the aloe vera that we all know and love.

The product itself is a rich chocolate brown. I got a lot of fun putting this on and pretending that I'd stuck my head in a chocolate fountain. What I think I love even more than this though, is the smell. If I had to describe it, I would say this smells like tiramisu - a beautiful cocoa scent, laced with a brandy undertone perhaps!

In terms of how this applies, it is so easy. The product is so smooth that it's simple to get full coverage. I leave this mask on for 10 minutes and in that time it dries out nicely. After washing it off with warm water your skin feels smooth, soft and nicely hydrated! I think it is really important for a mask not to dry out your skin, so this one ticked the box for me.

I have been using this twice a week throughout January and I have no complaints whatsoever. My skin is looking better than it has for a long time and I really do put it down to the great skincare I've been using - and I'm sure this mask has majorly contributed to it too.

Not only is the product great, but the ethos of the company is superb and I'll definitely be checking back on their website.

You can find the zk'in website here.
They are currently stocked at lovelula.com, so give them a search on there if you're interested!
