During these cold winter days the thought of a relaxing, hot bath is all I need to get me through the day. When it comes to bath products I always look to recreate a spa-experience in my own home as much as possible and so I was keen to try the new natural body therapy range from SenSpa, the UK's leading natural and multi-award winning Thai Spa. Read on to hear my thoughts and learn a bit more about the company.
In this post I'll be talking about my experiences with four different products, but there are many other products in this range that I've yet to try - so if the ones I mentioned aren't suitable for you, you might enjoy some of the others that aren't featured here. The range includes three main fragrances: Relaxing, Nourishing and Detox. These fragrances all come from 100% natural essential oils - so there isn't even a hint of an artificial scent! The 'Relaxing' fragrance contains organic lavender with Patchouli, Geranium, Bergamot and Benzoin. The 'Nourishing' fragrance contains organic Argan Oil, Jasmine, Cedarwood and Ylang. The Detox fragrance contains organic seaweed with the SenSpa signature fragrance blend, which uses nine essential oils to produce an exotic aroma.
Now you know a bit about the background of the company and the range, let's talk about the products I've been using and my experiences with them!
Detox Bath Salts
I am a huge lover of using salts both in the bath and the shower, so I was really keen to try these. The Detox Bath Salts are made with 100% dead sea salts and essential oils of sweet orange, lime & rosemary. To me, this just sounds like a heavenly mix. Dead sea salts are fantastic for the skin as they help to regulate moisture levels, soften and smooth the skin as well as helping to relax your muscles.
When you first open the 500g packet you're confronted with a really exotic smell that is hard to define. You can definitely smell the rosemary coming through and hints of the sweet fruits, giving it a slightly herbal and floral feel. It definitely makes you think of some remote location in the East, which is just what you want in a bath product: you want to be transported away from your own life for half-an-hour to completely relax and forget about your worries.
I've been adding a couple of handfuls to my bath and the combination of the salts themselves and the fragrance have really helped me relax before bed. I've definitely noticed that my muscles are feeling a lot better after a bath with these salts - particularly in my back. I'm at a desk all day and get a lot of back pain in my lower back, but I have experienced more relief using these salts then I have with any other bath product. Another reason that I love using these salts is the effect they have on my skin. My skin is very dry and bumpy, but after using these salts it is definitely a lot smoother. I've always used salts as an exfoliator in the shower, but it's great to know I can get a similar effect while just laying in a bath!
I know a lot of people don't have a bath or don't have time to have bath, but there is another use for these salts that I've discovered. I've been making myself a little foot bath to put under my desk whilst I'm studying in the evening and not only does it help to relax me, but it's also working wonders for my dry and cracked heels.
Detox Body Wash
Next up is the Detox Body Wash, which is made with organic seaweed and essential oils of sweet orange, lime and rosemary. I was really excited to see that seaweed features on the ingredients list as it's a great detoxifying agent, so is perfect for a body wash.
The body wash is from the same line as the bath salts, so their scents are similar, but I think the body wash is slightly sweeter. The container has 200ml of product in it and I honestly think this is going to last for a really long time; you only need a small amount because it lathers up so well. The fragrance is not too overpowering, but you can definitely still smell it subtly on your skin after it's rinsed off, which I really enjoy!
I think this is a great body wash and it definitely has an invigorating feel - ideal for a morning shower!
Sleep Therapy Bath Soak
I frequently have trouble sleeping, so I wanted to see if this soak would help. It contains organic lavender and essentials oils of bergamot, patchouli and geranium. This combination gives such a beautiful scent - an added fragrance which softens the lavender scent somewhat.
If you are someone that struggles to wind-down and relax before bed then I would definitely recommend this - the scent really calmed me down and I got out of the bath feeling like I'd already started to unwind, making sleep a lot easier.
This soak also makes your skin so soft! Plus, the fragrance remains on your skin meaning you can carry it back to bed with you to help you drift off.
Nourishing Hand & Body Lotion
With all of the argan oil craze at the moment I was really excited to see that this lotion is made with organic argan oil. It also has essential oils of jasmine, cedarwood and ylang to give it a really unique scent that I've never experienced in any other moisturisers.
When it comes to hand and body lotions, I always look for ones that soak in quickly and this one definitely delivers that. It's absorbed so fast and doesn't leave a greasy residue at all! Your skin feels hydrated and leaves your skin smooth and supple. I've been using it as I get out of the shower or bath and it's so handy that you don't have to wait around for it to sink in before getting dressed. It also means that you can put this on at night before bed without worrying about getting lotion on your bed sheets!
All-in-all I have been massively impressed by the SenSpa body therapy range. The overall impression I got from using the products was that they were luxurious, natural and effective. The fragrances are just so unique that you honestly feel like you're in a spa in Thailand.
