When it comes to dry shampoo I always come back to Batiste. For me, they're tried and tested and I've yet to find another brand that makes dry shampoo that is as effective and as great smelling as them. After a stressful, exam-filled term at uni I needed to get myself a new can and was so excited to see a new limited edition scent in collaboration with Ella Henderson had just launched. I've honestly never found a Batiste scent that I didn't like, but I have to say that the scent of this Ella Henderson edition could possibly be by most favourite.
Read on to hear more about the scent and how I like to use dry shampoo...
Batiste describe the fragrance as having:
"...top notes of vanilla, mixed with a coconut mid tone and a base of sandalwood, cedarwood and musk".
This description is just spot-on. The vanilla and coconut both come through immediately with the woody and musky smells providing a subtle background to them. For me, the smell conjures up a picture of a secluded beach on an island in the height of summer, with driftwood scattered around you on the sand. It's the perfect scent for the warmer months and it's refreshing to have an alternative to the traditional fruity and very sweet fragrances that we often associate with summer.
My favourite way of using dry shampoo is to apply it at night before I go to bed. I then tie my hair up in a bun and let it work it's magic overnight. By morning your hair is completely grease-free and there's no traces of any powder. I would highly recommend this method for everyone, particularly if you have very dark hair which shows up powder very clearly.
As we all know, it's not good to wash your hair too often - so using dry shampoo is the way I stretch the time in between hair washes. I often recommend it to my friends who are caught in the vicious cycle of washing their hair everyday - i.e. they have to wash their hair everyday because it gets greasy so quickly, but it gets greasy so quickly BECAUSE they wash their hair everyday. If you're someone who wants to improve the health of your hair, try increasing the time between washes by using a spritz of dry shampoo at night.
Dry shampoo is also a great styling tool. If you want to do a great up-do that involves back-combing, use the dry shampoo to give your hair texture. This will give your hair grip and make it much easier to style. It'll also ensure it holds the style for longer. Spraying at the roots will also give you more volume - perfect for anyone with flat hair like me!
