Girls Night In with Freeman Face Masks

Having just finished my exams, I felt I was in desperate need of a relaxing night in with the girls. We cracked open the bubbly, got plenty of snacks and decided we all deserved a pampering session. Our evening consisted of facial massages, foot spas, manicures and, most excitingly, a trial of some new face masks I'd recently discovered from Freeman Beauty, Their 'Feeling Beautiful' skincare range has an extensive collection of different scented masks that give your skin the TLC it deserves, whilst also providing you with a relaxing experience. Read on to hear all about the different masks we tried and our thoughts on them...

Chocolate & Strawberry Clay Mask

As an extreme chocoholic, this mask was my first choice. It's a clay-based mask which is perfect for anyone with oily skin or enlarged pores. The clays actively absorb oil on the skin and in your pores which results in your pores appearing smaller and being cleansed from any build up of dirt.
The first thing that I noticed was the incredible smell - truly good enough to eat. Reminds me of melted milk chocolate with a subtle sweetness coming through from the strawberries. It's not too overpowering, but I actually found the aroma really relaxing in itself.
The idea of a clay mask is to leave it on until it dries, so I had the mask on for just over 10 minutes. Although I could feel the mask hardening, it didn't feel uncomfortable and my skin didn't feel dry at any point. This followed through after I had washed the mask off. My skin felt really hydrated and, also, beautifully soft which I'd explain with the toning action with this mask. My cheeks were smoother than they'd felt in a very long time and the girls thought that my skin looked a lot brighter than before.

I can picture me using this after a hard day when I just need some time to myself to unwind. The chocolate scent gives you that bit of luxury - just what you need when pampering.

The sachet (15ml) is £1.50 and can be found on the website: here.
The full size (175ml) is £5.99 and can be found on the website: here.

 Avocado & Oatmeal Clay Mask

Susan chose this mask as it's supposed to be particularly nourishing and moisturising on the skin. She's been having some extreme sensitivity of late on her face and neck, so this one appeared to be perfect for her. I've read so much about avocado and it's health benefits that it seems ideal to put it in a face mask. I've also had serums before that make use of oats and they were particularly good at repairing and giving life to dull skin.
When it was first applied, Susan found it really soothing and cooling, which felt great on her sensitive skin. After removing it, she did have some red patches on her forehead and chin - but we think that might be because we left it on too long. The redness did dissipate within about half an hour, but it was a bit sore for her. I really don't think that there is anything wrong with the mask - I think that clay masks can be a bit harsh on very sensitive skin, especially when they're left on for a long time... just something to keep in mind!

Once the redness had faded, even Susan agreed that her skin was looking a lot better than it did before the mask and it felt so much smoother. Susan doesn't really have any problems with blackheads, but the purifying abilities of this mask would make it ideal for anyone who does suffer with abundant blackheads or acne due to it's deep cleaning nature.

Dead Sea Minerals Anti-Stress Mask

Karen decided to try this mask upon recommendation from me. During my exams I loved using this mask to help relax myself when everything was getting a bit much. It uses dead sea minerals which work wonders on the skin (replenishing moisture and cleansing pores), but also uses lavender and bergamot to soothe your senses and help you to unwind.

This would be the perfect face mask for anyone with a busy lifestyle. After using this mask during my exams I had the best nights sleep that I'd had in weeks.

Acai Purifying Clay Mask

This was the mask that we were all most intrigued by because none of us had ever seen an Acai skincare product. This mask is actually packed full of an 8-antioxidant blend of Acai, Blueberry, Cranberry, Goji, Mango, Mangosteen, Noni and Pomegranate. Antioxidants are so important to your skin because they'll not only neutralise environmental damage, but will offer protection against damage in future. These ingredients are also brilliant sources of vitamins. Jackie decided to use this mask and absolutely loved it. Her skin looked so much brighter after using it and she loved the way her skin felt after.

If you're looking to rejuvinate your skin then this is definitely the mask for you. It's not only going to look after the health of your skin, but will also give you visible effects to fix any dulling.

The next two masks aren't clay-based, so you're not going to get the same pigmented colour - in fact, the next two are completely transparent.

Pineapple Enzyme Mask

This mask actively acts on your skin using enzymes and acids (AHAs) to exfoliate the skin and removes dead cells from the surface. This mask smells so strongly of pineapple and I absolutely adore it. It's so refreshing as soon as you apply it to your face and your skin honestly feels so revived afterwards. I have combination skin, so I often have dry patches building up which making applying foundation a nightmare. This mask is perfect for diminishing those patches to expose the new, revived skin underneath.

If you, like me, have dry skin then it's really important to use an exfoliator at some point in your skin care routine. Using this mask gives you that exfoliation, whilst also stimulating skin renewal - all of that and all you have to do is sit back and relax!

Cucumber Peel-Off Mask

This is, by-far, the most fun of all of the masks and is suitable for everyone because of how gentle it is. The cucumber has a refreshing cooling effect, but also provides great hydration of the skin. This mask also contains Aloe - which we all know is a wonder-ingredient.
After 10 minutes, this mask is ready to peel away. I was a bit sceptical before as I wasn't sure whether it would easily peel away, but it was the easiest thing imaginable. It was so much fun peeling it away - so satisfying!

Afterwards, my skin felt so soft and smooth. The peel actually helps to gently remove the outer surface of dead skin cells too, which gives a brightening effect.
This is the kind of mask that I think men would like too, so I'll definitely be forcing my boyfriend into a pampering night!
