When it comes to lip products, "moisture" and "stain" are two words you wouldn't think to find together. I am a huge fan of lip stains, but they can be so drying - they always require a balm or a gloss to keep you comfortable. Revlon came up with a product that is supposed to be a moisturising stain - so I was keen to give it a try. Read on to hear my thoughts about it!
In terms of the packaging, the Moisture Stain is oh-so attractive. It takes a cuboid shape and clearly depicts the shade on the outside - both of which make it perfect for storage. The applicator is doe-foot style, but has a slightly unusual shape. The applicator is angled and is much larger in width then it is in depth. This is so ideal for a lip product because it has a greater surface area - it's really easy to coat your lips completely, in no time at all!
I purchased the shade number 020: Rio Rush which is a lovely deep pink - a really easy colour to wear on an everyday basis. As you can see from the picture, the product itself is really pigmented so instantly transforms your lip colour. The consistency is interesting - it feels more like a gloss, but is as pigmented as a liquid lipstick. One con that I did find when applying was that you can't layer this. I love the colour, but I wanted a more intense look. When I tried to apply a second coat it simply moved the existing product around making the covering look really patchy.
The product is definitely full of "moisture" and is so nice to wear, but I definitely think it's lacking in the "stain" department. I was expecting the product to stain my lips so that after the glossiness had faded or been removed by food, drink etc I'd be left with a hint of the colour. This was not the case at all.
Overall, I adore this product as a lip gloss, but if you want something that is long-wearing and more full-on then definitely choose an alternative. The colours in the range are gorgeous and the formula is so pleasant on your lips - a great everyday product.
