Barry M Beauty Haul

Barry M is one of my favourite nail polish brands, but I'd never actually tried any of their make-up. I recently found out that the brand is cruelty-free and this, combined with seeing their beautiful palettes, made me decide it was about time to try their cosmetics. Read on to hear reviews about the recent pieces I picked up!

Starry Eyed Shadow & Blush Palette

Barry M have a number of different eyeshadow palettes which come in a gorgeous compact with a great sized mirror. I decided to choose the 'Starry Eyed' palette because it's limited edition - adds a little extra excitement!

The palette has 6 eyeshadows and 1 blush. The eyeshadows are rich, deep shades making them ideal for a smokey eye - they cover browns, reds, golds and even a very deep blue. You get three matte shades and three shimmer shades which are placed alternately in the palette. The matte shades, particularly the cream and dark brown, are great transition shades.

As you can see, the shadows are wonderfully pigmented - how gorgeous is that deep red? I made these swatches without a primer too just to add to the impressiveness! What I love about these shadows is how easy they are to layer and to blend - just what you need when creating a fun look for an evening out.

The blush is a slightly shimmery, peach shade. Again, this is very pigmented - you need the tiniest amount on your brush to give a beautiful effect.

Above is an example of an eye look that I made using only the shadows in this palette. I used the cream as the transition, the brown in the crease, covered the lid lightly in the red and blended it in with the shimmery brown-red shade that you find last in the palette. I then dusted the gold shade over the outer part of the lid. I think it's a really nice, warm look that is so easy to achieve using this palette.

Pink Orchid Blusher (Bl1)

When it comes to blusher, I tend to only use one (Bourjous Rose D'Or). However, I really wanted to branch out and see the difference it would make to use a different shade.

The shade Pink Orchid is a bright pink, but it actually applies quite sheer. I had to layer it up a fair amount to get the intensity you see on my hand. On your cheek you can blend a small amount in to give a nice, pale pink sheen. This blusher is also completely matte - which I know a lot of people will appreciate!

Gelly High Shine Lips in Sirius  (Gsl4)

As you'll know if you read my blog, I am obsessed with lip crayons at the moment - so I couldn't resist trying out Barry M's version! These crayons, however, are unique in that they have a glossy finish.

The crayon itself is so soft, smooth and easy to apply. It's beautifully hydrating and has the effect of a lipstick and a lip gloss all in one!

There are some gorgeous colours in the range - nudes, oranges, reds, browns etc, but 'Sirius' won me over! The shade is a lovely deep pink and I love wearing on an everyday basis.

Gelly Nail Paint in Watermelon

I couldn't make some purchases from Barry M without picking up a nail polish.

This shade 'Watermelon' is a beautiful, deep green. I think this is such a great shade for the colder months - or for someone who wants to wear dark nails without going all out with black.
This polish was from their Gelly High Shine range which basically gives it a slightly shinier finish (as you can imagine). It looks as if you've applied a top coat, even when you haven't!
In terms of staying power, I have been hugely impressed with how little chipping has happened while I've been wearing this. The quality of the formula is clearly very good and it's great that you can get this for such an affordable price at the drugstore!

I've been hugely impressed by the products I bought from Barry M and I'm already eyeing up the other palettes and some more lippies!

Have you tried the Barry M make-up?
